The Mayor Thames Festival
|
The Mayor Thames Festival Date: September 12 & 13
Time: Noon- 10:00 pm
The Mayor Thames Festival was first launched in 1997 with a stunning high-wire walk across the River Thames. It celebrates London’s river with amazing open air arts, river events, pyrotechnics, illuminations, street theater, massed choirs and music. Over the years it has become one of London’s largest annual events. In 1998 there was an international food and craft market peppered with street theatre and music and two large scale events: a night carnival and a mid-river concert on a floating stage. As this year will be the 10th Anniversary, it will be celebrated in style. There will be a spectacular Night Carnival and fireworks, from the Al Fresco Ballrooms in unique riverside settings, to themed feasts on Southwark Bridge and to the festival’s climatic events. The main purpose of the festival is to educate and change people’s ideas about the river.
Venue: Between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge.
