Date: July to September, 2007

London is hosting a three-month season showcasing culture, tradition of India starting from the month of July to September, 2007. Events and festivals related to Indian at, film, food, theatre, music and fashion will be organized. London Mela will be held at Gunnesbury Park and Museums in Gunnesbury Park in the month of August, the Regent Street Festival will be held at Regent Street in West End in the month of September. Trafalgar Square Festival will be held from 2nd August to 19th August, 2007 at Trafalgar Square will be celebrating Indian art and culture in London..

London Mela – London Mela supported by London Mayor and produced by Ealing Council will be held at Gunnesbury Park in the month of August. The Mela will be featuring performance from Pandit Dinesh & Kishon Khan, Punjabi music star Sukshinder Shinda and Bobby and Nihal from Radio 1. London Mela also includes various zones and stages such as British Asian Network Main Stage, Heritage Maidaan and classical stage, Indo-electronica, Community and Cabaret stage, Magic Mela and London Flavas.

Regent Street Festival – Regent Street will be closed for the traffic as it would be celebrating the Regent Street Festival with the theme ‘A Walk Through Spain,’ which is sponsored by Spanish Tourist Office and the Regent Street Retailers and also annual festival which will be themed “Indian Summer” and which will showcase India’s diversity and creativity. It will be the finale of the London Mayor’s India Now Festival. The street will feature performances of wide range of Indian popular musical and dance performances. UK-based Dhol Academy along with the performers Walk the Plank will present a spectacular performance “In the Dholdrums” which will feature giant drums, costumes, stilt-walkers and fireworks.

Trafalgar Square Festival – The Trafalgar Square Festival inspired from London Mayor’s London Mela would showcase breathtaking dance performances, theatrical performances by Akademi South Asian Dance UK, Tara arts Attakkalari Centre and performances from artist Vena Ramphal and Naresh Kanpuria expressing London connections with India.
