Guided Tunnel Boat Trips

Date: July 8, 2007 to September 16, 2007
Time: 11.00 AM, 1.00 PM, 2.00 PM, and 3.00 PM on 8th July, 12th August, and 16th September.

Traveling through Islington tunnel on the Regent’s Canal, opened in 1820, extends to about three quarters of a mile in length. Earlier the boats had to be moved by pushing the legs against the walls. However, the trips have been made easy by boarding London’s community narrow boats. This year the historic Tarporley is being used and a substitute boat is expected to be used in June.

There are 12 places covered in each trip and it takes just one hour to return from the trip. A guide informs about the history of the canal and the tunnel as you move on. On bad weathers you can travel inside the boat.

At the museum, you can get the information about the history of London’s canal, cargoes, and about the boats that were pulled by the horses.

The admission fee for an adult is £6.50 and for a child is £5.
